Mater Research Sisters of Mercy Medals 2025

The Mater Research Sisters of Mercy Medals are a chance for the organisation to recognise individuals who have made an outstanding contribution throughout the year.

The Medals are awarded for making outstanding contributions in the areas of:

  • mentoring and supervising Mater Research students
  • translating research findings from Mater Research into clinical care
  • contributing to the research output and impact that align with the Mater Research strategy
  • contributing to Mater Research operations
  • contributing to Mater Clinical Trials
  • contributing to Mater Research as a research assistant or similar role.


All Sisters of Mercy Medal nominations will be subject to relative to opportunity considerations, for example family or carer responsibilities. 

Previous recipients are not eligible for the same award.

Nominations for the 2025 Sisters of Mercy Medals will close at 5pm on Monday 13 October 2025.

Sister Medal

This is awarded to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to supervising and mentoring Mater Research students.

This is awarded to a Mater Researcher who has made an exceptional contribution to translating research findings into clinical care.

This is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the research output and impact of Mater Research.

This is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the operations of Mater Research.

This is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the conduct, support and success of Mater Clinical Trials.

This is awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Mater Research as a Research Assistant or a similar role.

The Sister Michaeleen Ahern Medal

Awarded to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to supervising and mentoring Mater Research students.

 

Eligibility Criteria

The nominee must:

  • hold a position at Mater Research with a minimum three years’ experience supervising, mentoring and/or training postgraduate students;
  • have a track record of high-quality performance relative to opportunity; and
  • have evidence of sustained performance over time.

The Sister Regis Mary Dunne Medal

Awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the research output and impact that align with the Mater Research strategy.

 

Eligibility Criteria
Aimed at outstanding individuals across research, clinical practice and everyday operations.

 

300 words maximum.

The Sister Eileen Pollard Medal

Awarded to a Mater Researcher who has made an exceptional contribution to translating research findings into clinical care.

 

Eligibility Criteria
The Medal is aimed at outstanding individuals across Mater Research, clinical practice and everyday operations.

The Sister Madonna Josey Medal 
Awarded to a professional staff member who has made an outstanding contribution to the operations of Mater Research.

 

Eligibility Criteria
Aimed at outstanding individuals across research support services, clinical services and everyday operations.

 

300 words maximum.

The Sister Pauline Mary Purtill 

Awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the conduct, support and success of Mater Clinical Trials.

 

Eligibility Criteria
Aimed at outstanding individuals across the Mater Clinical Trials service.

300 Words Maximum. 

The Sister Mary Athanasius Reardon

Awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Mater Research as a Research Assistant or a similar role.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Aimed at outstanding individuals that are Research Assistant or similar professional staff member across Mater Research.

 

300 words maximum.
